Installs easily on existing ISA 428 units
It's easy to retrofit your existing ISA 428 with the MH-442 Digital Expansion Card. No soldering or complicated installation procedures are required. Simply undo a few screws, hook up one clip connector to join to the main PCB and you're in business. Your ISA 428, a landmark among analog preamps, is now the ideal front end for virtually any digital recording system!

16, 20 or 24-bit conversion at sample rates of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192kHz
Even if you're only recording at 16-bit/44.1kHz resolution, the MH-442 can handle it. It features adaptive dithering and supports most sample rates - 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192kHz. So from CD quality to high definition, you'll be sure to get the best possible A/D conversion. And with a signal-to-noise ration of 120dB (A-weighted), the MH-442 delivers one of the widest dynamic ranges available from any digital converter.

Standard or 256x "Super Clock" Word Clock options
When using multiple pieces of digital equipment it is necessary to make sure that their bitstreams are all in sync. The MH-442 features Word Clock I/O via standard BNC connectors. Plus, it supports both standard Word Clock and the Digidesign-specified 256x "Super Clock" for sync compatibility with Pro Tools hardware.

AES/EBU, S/PDIF and ADAT optical outputs
The MH-442's digital audio outputs include AES/EBU (both single and dual wire specs), S/PDIF and ADAT formats (ADAT is maximum 96kHz via 2 ports) with sample rates selectable between 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192kHz, 16, 20, and 24 bits with adaptive dithering. Connections are via 2 x 9-pin D-type connectors (optional, see here for an AES adapter and here for a S/PDIF cable) and standard ADAT optical connections. Word Clock is via BNC in and out.
